What is Acupuncture?
Simply put, Acupuncture is a form of treating imbalances within the body using fine, sterile needles at specific points that are known to effect physical, chemical, mental, and emotional changes.  It is a term used to encompass a theory of treatment more that one technique.  In fact, acupuncturists may also use cupping, scraping, cold-laser therapy, micro-current stimulation, far infra-red light therapy and other modalities, in addition to needles.  All these techniques are used towards the primary goal of restoring balance and harmony to the human system.

What if I'm afraid of needles?
Acupuncture needles are very different than the needles at your doctor or dentist's office.  Many are finer than a horse hair.  This makes them virtually painless and are often never felt.

However, in cases where the fear of needles is an obstacle, for small children, and for those with bleeding disorders, we offer needle free treatment options.

How can Acupuncture help me?
Research into the effects of acupuncture is ongoing.  Clinical studies have shown that acupuncture is effective for:
  • Musculo-skeletal problems/pain
  • Mental and Emotional Disorders
  • Disorders of the Ear, Eyes, Nose, and Throat
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Respiratory System Disorders, allergies
  • Infertility and Reproductive System disorders
  • And much, much more.
In short, because Eastern Medicine relies on diagnosing imbalances in the acupuncture channels and addressing those imbalances to restore equilibrium, whatever your complaint is can most likely be addressed with acupuncture.  Of course, there are always exceptions, but the vast majority of patients report positive results and improved quality of life.
